Overview
From the arid Kalahari Desert to the lush Okavango Delta, Botswana is a treasure trove of wildlife and natural beauty that will leave you breathless. The Okavango Delta, a vast wetland wilderness formed by the annual flooding of the Okavango River, is the jewel in Botswana's crown. Covering about 15,000 square kilometers (5,800 square miles), this UNESCO World Heritage Site features a stunning mosaic of islands, channels, lagoons, and floodplains that support a rich variety of flora and fauna.

When to go
The best time for a safari in Botswana depends on your interests and activities:

Wildlife Viewing: The dry season from June to October is ideal for wildlife viewing, as animals gather around water sources. This is also the best time to visit the Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park. The wet season from November to April is better for visiting the Central Kalahari Game Reserve and Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, where you can witness the zebra migration and flamingo breeding.

Weather and Climate: The dry season offers clear skies, sunny days, and cold nights, with temperatures ranging from 5°C (41°F) to 25°C (77°F). The wet season brings hot, humid days, cloudy skies, and occasional thunderstorms, with temperatures from 20°C (68°F) to 35°C (95°F).

Crowds and Prices: The peak season from July to October sees higher prices and lower availability. To avoid crowds and save money, consider the shoulder seasons (May to June or November to December) or the low season (January to April).
