Overview
Immerse yourself in the heart of Africa with a journey to Uganda and Rwanda – two stunning destinations renowned for their unparalleled wildlife encounters and breathtaking landscapes.
Info
Uganda and Rwanda are premier destinations in Africa, renowned for their safaris, gorilla treks, and a host of other extraordinary experiences. These countries share the Virunga Mountains, home to the endangered mountain gorillas, which can only be found in this region and in Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Gorilla trekking offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to encounter these gentle giants in their natural habitat.

Gorilla Trekking:
To join a guided gorilla trek, which lasts from 2 to 8 hours depending on the gorilla family's location, you'll need a gorilla permit. Uganda has 18 habituated gorilla groups (17 in Bwindi and one in Mgahinga National Park), while Rwanda has 12 groups in Volcanoes National Park. Gorilla permits cost approximately $700 in Uganda and $1500 in Rwanda.

Safari Activities:
Beyond gorilla trekking, Uganda and Rwanda offer a variety of exciting safari activities, including:

Wildlife Viewing: See the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo) and other species such as giraffe, zebra, hippo, crocodile, and antelope in parks like Queen Elizabeth, Murchison Falls, Akagera, and Lake Mburo.

Chimpanzee Tracking: Available in Kibale Forest and Nyungwe Forest.

Golden Monkey Tracking: Particularly popular in Volcanoes National Park.

Birdwatching: Both countries boast diverse bird species.

Cultural Tours: Visit local villages, museums, and genocide memorial sites.

Hiking and Adventure: Enjoy boat cruises on the Nile, Kazinga Channel, and Lake Ihema, or opt for a hot air balloon ride over the savannah.
